Jul 18, 2019 Connect your USB device which is throwing unknown usb device/not recognized by Windows. You will see an Unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) with a yellow exclamation mark in Universal Serial Bus controllers. Now right-click on it and click Uninstall. Restart your PC and the drivers will get installed automatically. Step 2 Browse the list and expand category Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Then you can locate the malfunctioned USB drive which is tagged with a yellow sign and named with 'Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)'. Step 3 Right-click on it and select Uninstall option from context menu. Once drivers are uninstalled successfully, restart computer and Windows will reinstall the device automatically.
Right-click on Unknown USB Device (Port Reset Failed) under this category and then click Uninstall to remove the device. After finishing the uninstallation, restart your PC then Windows will reinstall the device automatically. To assist you better, please provide us the information below:
- When you say that 'Unknown USB Device Drive (Device Description Request', where exactly are you getting the error message? Have you checked the driver status in the Device Manager?
- Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue?
I suggest you to follow the methods below to hardware troubleshooter and also try to update all the universal serial bus controller drivers. Check if it helps.
Method 1: I recommend you to perform the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter. Check if it helps.
1. Click on Search bar.
2. Type “Troubleshooting” without the quotes and click on Troubleshooting.
3. Click on View All on the left panel of the screen.
4. Click on Hardware and Devices.
5. Click on Next and follow the prompts to run the troubleshooter.
If the issue still persist, refer to the method below.
Method 2: I suggest you to update USB drivers in the Device Manager and check if it helps.
. Press Windows Key + R Key.
2. Then type “devmgmt.msc” without the quotes and hit on Enter Key.
3. Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers and try to update all the drivers in the list.
4. Right click on the drivers and click on Update Diver Software.
